Calliope Coasters - FREE Pattern

I recently made an adult purchase, I finally bought end tables for my living room. Previously I had these stools from IKEA that we used as make shift end tables. One day my adorable niece bumped one while playing, which had a coffee precariously resting on it and the coffee went tumbling onto my white area rug...sigh. Not such a great day. One, giant stain. Two, and maybe more importantly, spilled coffee.

So I got my act together and purchased these end tables from Structube. Once we had them delivered and assembled I noticed one glaringly obvious problem, as my 4 year old set her sippy cup with cold juice on it, water stains. Insert the need for coasters.

I scoured around for some patterns but ultimately fell short of what I had envisioned so here they are, the Calliope Coasters in four, that's right, four variations.

I used this fantastic versatile yarn Bernat Softee Baby Cotton. It comes in the sweetest pale muted shades and is a DK category 3 weighted yarn. It's 60% cotton and 40% acrylic which means it has all the amazing qualities of cotton but isn't stiff.

I hope you find everything helpful and that you enjoy working up this design.  I’m so grateful for your feedback and truly appreciate every like, share, and comment!

Without turning your work, insert the hook from front to back in the first single crochet stitch to your right. Yarn over your hook and draw up a loop. You should have two loops on the hook.Yarn over and draw it through both loops. You should have one loop on the hook. Repeat.

Heart Hook Home has a great tutorial for this here.

Each coaster is made from the same foundation of 4 rows. The variation is in the last few rows.
